Annual Report and Upcoming Kalendar

Scotland – South East

Deputy VIll Bro. William K. Braithwaite 33°

It gives me much pleasure to submit this, my first report since my promotion to the 33° and appointment as Deputy Scotland South East on 18th. October 2017.

Firstly, I
must thank the Most Powerful Sovereign Grand Commander J.M. Marcus Humphrey ofDinnet and members of Supreme Council for the honour and confidence they have placed in me to carry out the duties Deputy Scotland South East. The honour is not only for myself, but also for the members of my "Mother Sovereign Chapter, Border N° 24" - I have to say, it was huge surprise and a massive shock to me, the greatest honour conferred on me in my Masonic career.

Secondly, I thank all the Most Wise Sovereigns, Illustrious Grand Commanders and all members of the Province for the warm, kind, friendly and courteous manner in which I was received and introduced into their Sovereign Chapters and Sovereign Councils. Their generosity and hospitality has been quite outstanding.

Thanks must be accorded to Past Deputy for Scotland South East, Very Illustrious Brother Fraser Gaunt 33°, for advice, help, and company during visits to the Chapters and Councils in the Province.

During the period covered by this report, I have attended all the Sovereign Chapters, Sovereign Councils and assisted in the Installations of the Province, missing one meeting, unfortunately, Forth Valley Sovereign Chapter "clashes" with Solway Sovereign Council N° 80. As I am an affiliate member of Solway N° 80, I felt it my duty to attend Solway at least once a year.

I have examined the minute books and the accounts of the Sovereign Chapters and Sovereign Councils of the Province and found them to be in good order, well laid out, and easy to follow. To all the Secretaries and Treasurers; the administrators of our Chapters and Councils, I thank them for their diligent work, seen and unseen.

The working of the ceremonies in the Province, are in general, of a very high standard, well attended by members, visiting Most Wise Sovereigns and Illustrious Grand Commanders alike. My thanks are extended to all the Excellent and Perfect Companions, Illustrious Brethren and Masters of Ceremonies who devote time and hard work to their offices. It is their commitment to their Chapters and Councils that make our meetings run so well and so enjoyable to all.

To the head office administrators, Most Illustrious Grand Secretary General, Alexander Galbraith and Mrs. Fiona Hoggarth, I thank them for their guidance and support. It would be quite remiss of me not to extend a "special" thanks to Fiona, who helped me so much with the setting up of an e-mail address and giving me a "long distance learning" computer course! Fiona, everyone wishes you, the speediest of returns to full health after your accident in Poland.

Finally, in conclusion, and on behalf of all the members of the Province of Scotland South East, we extend our sincerest congratulations and best wishes to Most Illustrious Brother David M. Thomson on his appointment to Supreme Council and promotion to the 33° - it strengthens the strong bonds that have always existed between the Scottish Borders' and the South West of Scotland.
