Annual Report and Upcoming Kalendar

Scotland - North East
Deputy V∴Ill∴Bro. Charles B. Kelman 33°

It gives me great pleasure in submitting my second Annual Report of my Commission as Deputy for Scotland – North East.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Very Powerful Brother George MacDonald Anderson 33°, Past Lieutenant Grand Commander, in January of this year.  George joined the Rite in 1959 and was Lieutenant Grand Commander from 1995 to 2000, he was one of life’s real gentlemen and a phenomenal freemason in many Orders. I was extremely proud to see a very large turnout of members of the Rite, from all over Scotland, at his funeral in Aberdeen.

I attended all meetings of the Sovereign Chapters and Councils this year with the exception of one Council meeting which was cancelled due to the very bad winter storm “The Beast from the East”.  I also assisted the Supreme Council’s Deputations at all five Installations.  The warmth and friendship that has been extended to me and Supreme Council Deputations from all members of the Sovereign Chapters and Councils in my Province has been very heart warming.  The attendances at all regular and Installation meetings have increased and they are very harmonious occasions.  It has been another very successful year in the North East.

Active membership increased this year with 16 candidates/members being perfected or reinstated to the 18° and 6 were promoted to the 30°.

I would also like to congratulate those members of our Rite whom the Supreme Council has deemed fit to promote, I sincerely hope that they enjoy their further advancement.

Unfortunately, I have to report the sad passing of 15 members to the Grand Supreme Council above from the Active and Non-active lists, we mourn their passing and our thoughts and prayers are with their loved ones. We have many members who, due to long term illness, cannot attend our meetings on a regular basis but they are always in our thoughts.

I congratulate the Grand Commanders, Most Wise Sovereigns and their Office Bearers who continue to deliver our ritual to a very high standard.  The amount of visiting our Grand Commanders and Most Wise Sovereigns do never ceases to amaze me and likewise the reciprocal return visits their opposite numbers make to our Province is humbling. To the visitors who attended our Province last year, I thank you all most sincerely and please “Haste Ye Back”.

I would like to thank the Secretaries and Treasurers for their continued hard work throughout the year, most of which is done at home and goes un-noticed. I am indebted to them all for keeping their records and accounts in excellent order and for ensuring that everything is done in strict accordance with the requirements laid down by the Supreme Council for Scotland.

All of the members in the Province and I would like to congratulate, Most Illustrious Henry (Harry) G. Petrie 33° who was promoted to Grand Standard Bearer within Supreme Council.

Finally, I would like to thank our Grand Secretary General, Most Illustrious Brother Alexander Galbraith 33° and Mrs. Fiona Hoggarth for their continued guidance and support last year.
